Sorry it’s been so long! Sparky’s mom has been too busy to take pictures, and I (Sparky’s aunt) have been too busy to make updates.
Mom shaved the dog again. Sparky doesn’t need shaved. His coat is silky and lays flat, and doesn’t get long at all. but she shaved him and if she does it again, I’m removing Sparky from his abusive home, I can tell you that.
“I don’t shed! Why does this woman have such hatred for my fur?”
“The only thing shaving does is make my wee wee more prominent.”
Sparky was one of four puppies… two black and two brown. Sparky and his littermates are about 9 months old now. Here they were when they were about oh, seven weeks old:
The people who own Sparky’s mom and dad live on a farm. I work with Scott, and his wife Robyn absolutely loves animals and is a big believer in designer dogs. They kept one of the puppies from the litter above and named her Lilli. I think she’s very pretty! No one can match Sparky of course, but she is a doll:
Their new litter of 3 was born to Sparky’s dad and mom about two weeks ago. These pics were taken I think when they were one week old (so last week). Now I know many of you are concerned about people breeding non-AKC dogs when so many dogs in shelters are homeless and put down every year, and I share your concern. But the puppies are here so ignoring their cuteness won’t help anything. Might as well enjoy the cuteness!
And yes, I was really talking to him. Mom and dad said at first he pawed at the phone like I was inside it. Then he ran out into the hallway looking for me.
Sparky knows when he has a “treasure” that he’s not supposed to have, be it a shoe or a leaf or a stick. So he’ll sneak his ill-gotten loot past his mom and bring it under the bed, where he can enjoy it without ANY risk of discovery, as you can see in the image above.
I’ve been out of town. I went on a business trip and on the way I got to visit Sparky!
I took lots of pics and have to edit them.
To tide you over, here’s a trick Sparky does. He gets shoes (he stole one of mine while I was there) but he does not chew on them. He likes to relocate them. He sometimes sits by them. But never chews on them.
Here he is chewing on a rawhide while in the company of his dad’s shoe.
This week, on the Lifestyles of the Barely Housebroken, we talk to Sparky Chewbacca the Third, heir to the Dog Poop Bag fortune.
How does this puppy, who seems to have everything, choose to spend his days?
“Well, narrator with a pretentious British accent,” began Sparky, “Most days that has even a whisper of sunlight, you shall find me on the veranda.”
“I so love to sniff in the wind, picking up the faint despair of the humans around me who have to go to work and pay bills. I just laugh, for I am so carefree. Ha ha ha ha!”
“Of course, I am only happy upon the veranda if the door to the main house remains open. If the door is shut, then it is no longer my choice to be outside. It is being forced upon me then - a supreme insult! So I insist on coming inside immediately then. I have supersonic hearing, so even if I’m sound asleep outside, the minute the door shuts I am instantly on my paws and demanding loudly to come inside!”
“It really pisses me off when they do that.”
“Know what else pisses me off? When a cheesy entertainment TV interviewer and his crew get in the way of my LIGHT! That’s it! This interview is over!”
This blog is to tell the story of one of the cutest puppies in the world - Sparky - and all of his people and animal friends. He was a gift from me to my parents. You can read the background scoop on Sparky here. Visit often to see Sparky's most recent photos!
